Abundant Life: Explore![]() Your group will be led by a trained Explore Group Leader and each session includes a DVD that outlines the curriculum. Groups meet for approximately 90 minutes each week and most will meet on the Northeast campus. The weekly topics include: An Introduction to the Abundant Life/Explore Groups; Knowing God; Impacting Our World; Connecting with Believers; and the final week will be a Celebration Week. This is the perfect opportunity for you to connect with other believers - some from our Knowing God/Knowing Northeast Class. You will explore what it is like to be a part of a Life Group on a short-term basis. The ultimate goal is for your EXPLORE Group to evolve into a long-term Life Group. Begin your exploration today. Register now for an Explore Group . . . click here! For more information on the EXPLORE process, contact Katie Haller at 212-5246 or e-mail her at katie.haller@necchurch.org. What is our Explore Ministry and just what does the director of the ministry do? Get to know Katie Haller! In a nutshell, what do you do for Northeast? “I help people not connected in Life Groups connect into Explore Groups. These groups are 5 weeks “try it before you buy it” Life Groups. It gives a person a chance to learn more about our Abundant Life process while connecting relationally with other people at Northeast.” Anything else you want to add about our Explore Ministry? “In our first year (2006) we connected around 200 people to an Explore Group and around 100 of those people have gone on to be in a Life Group. Although those statistics are really great - because people are getting connected into life changing community - what is really awesome is that eventually every person who has joined our church who is not connected someway in the Abundant Life process (not serving, not in a Life Group, not in an Equipping Experience) is or will be personally contacted throughout the year to see if there is something we can do to help them connect. The response to this personal touch has been incredible.” How long have you been on the Northeast staff? “I am not exactly sure... about 4 years.” Fill us in about your hubby and kids. “Husband: Kevin, 18 years; Madison 10; Tyler 9 (Both in school at Buckner Elementary)” Where did you go to school (you did go, didn’t you?) “University of Evansville (where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Administration-go figure)” Favorite book? “I love all of Liz Curtis Higg’s Historical/Biblical Fiction Books Nonfiction - I am currently reading Soul Cravings by Erwin McManus” Favorite movie? “I really don’t have a favorite: I like romantic comedies! I also am a fan of Office Space (so don’t touch my stapler or move me to the basement!)” Tell us something surprising or unique about you that most people don’t know about. “I have had a nose job!” Funniest story about Bob Cherry (or do you have any dirt on him)? “I don’t really have any crazy funny stories about Bob just that Bob loves to laugh and anytime I can provide Bob with the opportunity to laugh (mostly at my expense) it is worth it!” What you would tell other people about working for a church? “It’s a good thing . . .” What's the best thing about YOUR Explore Group experience? Read what others have had to say: “I am connecting with other people new to Northeast Christian Church.” “I am learning about what it means to live the Abundant Life.” “I have been a part of Northeast for many years and being in an Explore Group gave me a chance to experience what it is like to be in a Life Group.” “We loved being part of our Explore Group so much that we continued on as a Life Group!” “Being part of my Explore Group came at a very pivotal point in my life. I didn’t realize how much I needed to be a part of a group with other Christians until I joined my Explore Group.” “My Explore Group gave me the encouragement I needed to start serving others in our community.” “After my Explore Group experience, the members of the ministry encouraged and helped me find a Life Group to join!” “The curriculum and discussion during my Explore Group experience was top notch!” “Before I started leading an Explore Group, I felt God calling me toward leading a Life Group. Leading an Explore Group gave me an opportunity to “test the waters” of leading others in a group environment. After leading my Explore Group I didn’t want to leave the group . . . so I didn’t . . . I was trained as a Life Group Leader and now I lead the most incredible group of people. I feel so very blessed to be able to be a part of this group. It is amazing who God has brought to our group. I am so thankful for the opportunity I was given to lead an Explore Group.” Why should you join an Explore group? Read what others have to say: "This was THE best experience I have ever had in my ENTIRE CHURCH LIFE!" "I have been ON AND OFF AGAIN with church for the past ten years. But now I'm WAY ON AGAIN AND FIRED UP to take that next step!" "I took Discovering Northeast years ago and didn't get connected. Thanks for introducing Explore groups so I can now!" One frequently asked question we hear is “How do I know if I am ready to be in an Explore Group?” Which one of the statements in bold (sounds like you?) (Or your situation?) I am currently in a Life Group with other believers. You do not need to pursue being in an Explore Group. However, we encourage your current Life Group to use the Explore Group Curriculum. I have taken Discovering Northeast in the past year and have placed my membership with Northeast but have not gotten involved in a Life Group. This is exactly who Explore Groups are designed for. Contact the Explore Group Ministry for a list of new groups or you may see register by clicking the link above to see our available groups. I have taken Discovering Northeast but still have questions about Northeast being my church home. Discuss your questions with a member of our Discover team. You will be encouraged to take your next step based on your individual circumstance - one of which may be to join an Explore Group. I am currently a member and I used to be in a Life Group in the past but am currently “doing life” on my own. An Explore Group is just the way to connect with other believers again. Please contact the Explore Group Ministry and we will let you know what groups are coming up or click the link above. I used to lead a Life Group years ago and feel like I am ready to lead again but am unable to commit to a long-term group right now. Maybe leading a 5-week Explore Group is just the thing for you! Most of our leaders give us a 7-9 week commitment. I don’t fit any of the above. Please give us a call, we would love to help you take your next step in living the Abundant Life!
