When did you first start attending Northeast and why did you stay? January of 2011. My family moved to Louisville from sunny Florida to partner with Northeast to help change lives for Christ
What or who inspires you? People who aren’t afraid to live their faith out in wild dangerous ways
What’s your idea of a perfect day? Sleeping in late, pumpkin latte from Starbucks, mid-morning playtime with the kids at a park, BBQ lunch with friends, afternoon on the beach, seafood dinner on the water during sunset, and an evening walk on the beach with my wife
What was your first step in getting involved at Northeast? An oddly timed phone call and lots of prayer
Your biggest indulgence? BBQ and chicken wings
What do you think makes a good leader, someone that you’ll follow? Someone who can cast vision for the future, is intentional with his decisions, and is willing to lead by example
What has God been teaching you lately? His timing is not my timing, and if I am willing to wait on Him, his plans are always better than mine
If you could ask God one question, what would it be? Either why do we have to hurt to learn, or why do men have nipples? It’s a tie
If you could be on a reality TV show, what would it be? Minute to Win It
What or who makes you laugh? Brian Regan, Jim Gaffigan, Stephen Colbert, and my kids
What are two things always in your fridge? OJ and ice cream
In a few short lines, here is my faith story… I grew up in church, took God for granted, then as a teen discovered that I was a part of a bigger story. I’ve been trying to live out my part in God’s story ever since
What is your favorite…
· Bible verse? John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
· Time of day? Afternoons about 3 or 4pm. The most creative time of the day for me.
· Movie? Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
· Childhood TV show? Thundercats
· Websites? HomestarRunner.com, OrangeParents.org, and facebook.com
· Book (besides the Bible)? Messy Spirituality: God's Annoying Love for Imperfect People and Getting Fired For The Glory of God both by Mike Yoconelli
· Word or catchphrase? It was like that when I found it!
· Sport/Team? Florida Gators, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Detroit Red Wings
· Vacation place? The beach in FL, A.K.A. where I used to live
· Types of music? Polka Music… not so much, but pretty much everything else. I have a special place in my heart for Country and 80’s rock
· Restaurant? Darryl’s Restaurant in Greensboro, NC. No matter where you live, it’s worth the drive.
Describe your job at Northeast, and why you love what you do. I am the Middle School Minister and basically I attempt to create controlled chaos. I love it because middle school students are full of potential, their future is wide open, and they can be directed towards doing huge things for God’s Kingdom. Plus they still laugh at fart jokes.
How long have you been working at Northeast? I started in Jan of 2011
Retirement dream? Condo on the beach in Saint Augustine, Florida
What was your first job? My first and maybe favorite job was working at an ice skating rink
What’s one goal you have for the next year? Run a marathon
Name 3 things on your ‘bucket’ list. 1. Hike the Appalachian Trail 2. Surf the Great Barrier reef 3. Raise my kids to influence the world for Christ
Describe your family (Don’t forget pets!) Me, my smokin hot wife Keri, beach princess daughter Emma, half ninja half pirate son Weston, and evil genius son Ethan, along with a Black Lab named Blue, and a Chocolate Lab named Dakota
Proudest moment? Listening to my children’s prayers at night, and some of the wonderfully simple yet profound things and people they pray for
