When did you first start attending Northeast and why did you stay? My family started attending October 2001. We stayed because we love the people here. We’ve built great relationships over the years!

What or who inspires you? I’m inspired by people who live off the edge for God, people who won’t settle for a comfortable and cozy faith, but have surrendered their own nice little life for something much more adventurous and costly.

What’s your idea of a perfect day? A day spent with friends (both Christian and pre-Christian) doing something adventurous, like mountain biking a trail we’ve never ridden before.

What was your first step in getting involved at Northeast? Getting hired!

Your biggest indulgence? I don’t believe in indulgences. (People who grew up Catholic like me will understand this.)

What do you think makes a good leader, someone that you’ll follow? People who (1) Seek after God, (2) have Surrendered their life to Him, (3) act as a Shepherd to the people they lead, investing in them relationally, (4) Servants first, (5) Share ownership and leadership with others, and (6) wise Stewards of the leadership that God has entrusted to them.

What has God been teaching you lately? There are no formulas to our faith. God does not work according to some “If A, then B” rules. He works in and through an intimate relationship with us. I can’t expect God to work in some mechanical kind of way like putting money into a vending machine and getting a soda. He works according to His own plan, purpose, and timing.

If you could ask God one question, what would it be? What do YOU think makes a good leader?

If you could be on a reality TV show, what would it be? The Gong Show

What or who makes you laugh? Jim Gaffigan

What is your nickname, and how did you earn it? Micmac . Got it in college at UC.

What are two things always in your fridge? Peanut butter and jelly and my 4 kids.

In a few short lines, here is my faith story… I grew up a good Catholic but did not really know Jesus as my Savior. After some wild college and post-college years, and many broken relationships, I was searching for something more to life to fill the huge hole in my soul. My niece Julie shared the gospel message with me, drawing the bridge illustration on a napkin in Skyline Chili. It clicked, and God changed my life totally. I’ll tell you more if you have a few minutes sometime!

Describe your job at Northeast, and why you love what you do. I get to help people form and launch small groups (we call ‘em “Life Groups”) and then help those groups to be healthy and growing together. People lives are transformed when they are in real community with God and other people. It’s the environment where God works!

How long have you been working at Northeast? Since 2001

Retirement dream? If I ever really retire, I’d live in the country with some wooded land and write, plus do some travelling.

What was your first job? Working for a little old lady doing all her yard work.

What’s one goal you have for the next year? Help more people at Northeast connect with a healthy, life-changing small group

Name 3 things on your ‘bucket’ list. See each of my kids find their own unique way to live for and serve God; Take Heidi to Austria and other [places in Europe; Climb Big Montana on my mnt. bike without stopping.

Heidi and I just celebrated our 20th anniversary. We have 4 kids: Jordan is 18; Dru is 16; Sarah is 15; and Annie is 12. We also have a beautiful black lab mix, Lainey.

Proudest moment? Any time I see one of my kids make a wise, God-honoring decision in their lives
