When did you first start attending Northeast and why did you stay? I visited Northeast in 1982 when I first moved to Louisville to attend Southern Baptist Seminary. I attended for a few months and then took a weekend preaching ministry in Southern Indiana. Returned to the staff at Northeast for the first time in June 1987. I stayed because they paid me!

What or who inspires you?  Nothing consistent. God just seems to use little things at unexpected times.

What’s your idea of a perfect day?  Playing in the sun at the lake or beach with my family, heading in late in the day and going out to dinner together

Your biggest indulgence? Golf at nice courses. I don’t do it often, but I like watching a PGA event on TV and remembering when I played the same hole they are playing.

What do you think makes a good leader, someone that you’ll follow?  Integrity and vision; someone who is trustworthy with a God-sized plan for where we are going.

What is your favorite…

·     Bible verse? Psalm 1:2

·     Time of day? Morning; I don’t really like getting up early, but once I am up, I enjoy it

·     Movie? Not a big movie person, but I really liked The Blind Side. I grew up in the south, so anything that has a collection of SEC football coaches in it can’t be all bad.

·     Childhood TV show? My current favorite children’s show is Phineas and Ferb – that’s good TV!

·     Websites? ESPN

·     Sport/Team? Little League baseball with my boys; U of L basketball, baseball; University of Georgia football

·     Vacation place? Any place with water and maybe a golf course nearby

·     Types of music? Country

·     Restaurant? Any restaurant with good steak

Describe your job at Northeast, and why you love what you do. I am responsible for our Outreach (evangelism), Missions and X-Focued (externally focused) ministries. I love it because it is all about getting Northeast out into the community. I also love it because I have a great team of people who are leading these ministries. Their energy fills me up.

How long have you been working at Northeast? Been here twice – 1987-1992; 2000 - present

Retirement dream? Haven’t really thought about it yet; still have four kids to get through college

What was your first job? Stocker at Winn-Dixie

Name 3 things on your ‘bucket’ list. My bucket list just revolves around travel. I would like to take my family out west in a few years to see Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, etc. and I would like to take my wife to Europe.

My wife Valerie and I have been married for 16 years, we have four children – Bradley (12), Cooper (10), Savannah (9), Olivia (9). We also have a dog, Maggie Mae, a fish, Pearl, and a hamster, Hammy.
