Dear Northeast Friends,

Whether you’re new to Northeast or have been around here for a few years, you know that we have outgrown our auditorium. How God has blessed us! And if you have kids, you know that space is an issue in these areas as well.

As a result, I told you during our Heroes sermon series that we would be building some new buildings! Preliminary drawings are complete and our staff and other leaders of our church are in the process of finalizing plans before we present them to our congregation. You will not want to miss the next few weeks and months at Northeast! The first weekend after the New Year is when we will officially start talking about the whole process. Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to ask God for His wisdom and guidance.

Did you know that we have added six people to our staff within the last month? I invite you to look at the inside back cover at our staff listing at the names of our staff members and get to know them! Ronnie Cordrey, our Interim Teaching Pastor, has already taught two sermons and will be with us at least through January. I hope you have had a chance to meet him. Learn more about him and his family below.

Don’t forget to invite your friends and family to our annual Trunk or Treat event which is one of our kids’ favorite events! It’s Saturday, October 27 at 6:30 pm. I also encourage you to please embrace the Abundant Life process that Jesus has promised you. At Northeast, we have simplified that into three steps: Knowing, Connecting and Impacting. Take that next step in knowing God, getting connected and making an impact today!

What an absolutely awesome time at Northeast! Don’t you believe me when I say that the best days of Northeast are ahead!

30 Rocks! Sermon Series
As we remember Northeast’s 30th birthday this series will focus on the foundational truths, or “rocks”, that this church has been built upon. We’ll look at the reliability of the Bible, Communion and Baptism, the historical roots of the Christian church, and who runs the church.

Coming to a Phone Call Near You!
As Northeast continues to grow under God’s watchful eye, it is important to fully engage each and every person in the Abundant Life. Communicating with our members in how to do this is key. We place a high priority on tools such as our website, weekly bulletin, 10:10 Newsletter, in-service announcements, eNews opportunities, etc.
In our continuing efforts to communicate with effectiveness and excellence, we are in the process of instituting an innovative phone system called PhoneTree®... read more

This Could NEVER Happen To My Family!
Once the Bakers were a financially secure family. They lived comfortably in a wealthy community in Boca Raton, Florida in a six-thousand square foot home with an Olympic-size swimming pool, new cars, private schools for their children, great vacations, and they were very generous with their charitable giving.
Then Hurricane Wilma hit in October 2005. Their lovely home and every personal possession destroyed. Despite a $22,000.00 per year insurance premium no payment was received. Thankfully their family, Bobby, Melissa and five children (ages two – eleven) were safe.
They wandered from hotel to motel draining their life savings quickly. One vehicle disappeared in the hurricane and insurance refused to pay for it. After a year the other vehicle was repossessed.

Life Groups—Real Friends. Real Faith. Real Fun.
God is calling together little communities of the heart, to fight for one another and for the hearts of those who have not yet been set free. That camaraderie, that intimacy, that incredible impact by a few stouthearted souls—that is available. It is the Christian life as Jesus gave it to us. --John Eldridge, Waking the Dead

“Little communities of the heart.” That’s a great description of a Life Group at its best. In Waking the Dead, Eldridge describes how to get the life that Jesus promised us—the Abundant Life—in John 10:10. It starts when our hearts are fully alive … and that happens best in what we call Life Groups—Abundant Life Groups.
A Life Group is a little community where we hear each other’s stories, discover each other’s glories, learn to walk with God, pray for one another, have each other’s back, go fishin’ (God’s way), impact our community and the world, and have lots of fun along the way … together. As Eldridge says, “This small core fellowship is the essential ingredient for the Christian life.” It is the place where you will experience the Abundant Life together.

The summer is full of fun and excitement and rarely a time for extensive learning and continued education. However, there are three lessons that I learned from time spent with my four-year-old daughter that you too may find beneficial....continued

ServeFest Back-to-School ... Making an Impact!

On Saturday, August 4th over 220 Northeast members and their friends and family impacted our community by serving 14 area schools. Volunteers started off this awesome day of service at the Northeast gym for registration, complimentary Starbucks coffee (a sponsor of ServeFest), and a quick prayer by one of our middle schoolers to send them on their way.
The majority of the schools wished to have their grounds beautified and ready for the new school year, so most of our volunteers weeded, planted, & mulched. Other jobs the schools requested to get ready for the new school year included a fresh coat of paint, stamping books, stuffing packets, cleaning grounds, and even scraping up gum (yuck)!...continued
