When did you first start attending Northeast and why did you stay?  I was hired in August 2007, and I have stayed because of Krispy Kreme donuts on weekends.

What or who inspires you? My girls inspire me to be a better dad.  Francis Chan inspires me to have bigger faith.  Mentoring new believers inspires me to be thirsty for fresh faith.

What’s your idea of a perfect day?  For vacation:  spending the day with Tish the Dish + my girls (Ella & Kinsley) on a beach somewhere; for ministry:  teaching Starting Point and seeing the lights click “on” for seekers + 1-on-1 mentoring.

What was your first step in getting involved at Northeast?  Interim teaching pastor.

Your biggest indulgence? Scuba diving.

What do you think makes a good leader, someone that you’ll follow?  Moral authority … when audio & video match.  Moral authority is when you become a leader worth following from God’s perspective, after displaying integrity, godly character, honesty, and servant’s heart over & over again.

What has God been teaching you lately?  To be faithful to whatever He is entrusting me to lead/oversee.

If you could ask God one question, what would it be?  Why don’t you zap child molesters & rapists before you allow them to steal innocence from kids & women.

If you could be on a reality TV show, what would it be?  American Idol

What or who makes you laugh?  Brian Regan, Modern Family, Jeremy Pivens

What is your nickname, and how did you earn it? Tiny Tank … I go to the potty a lot.

What are two things always in your fridge? Ale 8 bottles and hot pockets

In a few short lines, here is my faith story… I was born on third base … have a great spiritual foundation from two godly parents.  I was born & raised a preacher’s kid with a great love for the local church.  Dave Stone was my youth minister & lived with us while he was finishing up Bible college.  He was a great influencer in my faith story, because Dave was the first person who showed me that you can be a Christian and still be nuts (ie. have a blast).  Before Dave, Christianity was more of a list of rules (mainly the “don’ts”). Now I know that Christianity is all about a love relationship with Jesus. God is not some cosmic “kill-joy”; instead, God is after my heart – and the more I learn to surrender my will to His, the more I experience the John 10:10 abundant life.

What is your favorite…

·    Bible verse? I Thessalonians 5:11 (therefore encourage one another and build each other up). ·    Time of day? Dinner with my family

·    Movie? Don’t have one favorite; instead, I love movies that are inspiring … where the under-dog wins (ie. The Blind Side, The Pursuit of Happiness, Gladiator, Braveheart, Taken, Happy Gilmore, Miracle, The Rookie etc.)

·    Childhood TV show?  Different Strokes, Dukes of Hazard, Silver Spoons, Brady Bunch.

·    Book (besides the Bible)?  Crazy Love, Ultramarathon Man, The Hole in our Gospel, a time to Steal

·    Word or catchphrase?  B-O-B, Black Lavender, chillaz (the art of chilling & relaxing at the same time), ginormous (huger than huge).

·    Sport/Team? UofL Cardinals

·    Vacation place? Panama City Beach (ie. the redneck Riviera)

·    Types of music? Michael Buble, Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick Jr., Steve fee, Chris Tomlin, Passion cds, Rascal Flats, Keith Urban, Taylor Swift

·    Restaurant? Roy’s (Hawaiian Fusion), PF Chang’s, Skyline Chili, Gino’s East Pizza

Describe your job at Northeast, and why you love what you do.  My role as involvement minister is to oversee our newcomers “Starting Point” experience, baptism ministry, mentoring ministry, lead worship 1x a month, + be part of our preaching team.  I love people, and most of what I oversee focuses on people.

How long have you been working at Northeast? 3 years

Retirement dream?  Be a scuba diving instructor + get involved with world vision / charity water projects

What was your first job?  My brother & I started a lawn care business when I was 11 years old, mowing 12-15 yards a week.  Come to think of it, I think I was banking more money then than now (ha).

What’s one goal you have for the next year? Get out of debt.

Name 3 things on your ‘bucket’ list. Take my family on mission trip to meet Kimberly J in Guatemala (ie. we have been sponsoring her through World Vision for the past year), Disney Cruise, & RV trip with family from Northern California to Southern California.

Describe your family: neat freaks, use coupons / love great deals, highly value family time together, love traditions, love changing of seasons, love vacation, love dogs (Wrigley Regan – yellow lab), laugh a lot.

Proudest moment?  Wedding June 24, 2000, birth of Ella Grace on October 19, 2005, birth of Kinsley Emerson on September 17, 2008, + witnessing 112 baptisms @ NE January 2-3, 2010.
