Summer Reading Program

Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 06/18/2019 to 07/26/2019

The Love The ’Ville Summer Reading Program is a great opportunity to make a huge impact on the life of a student during the summer when many students experience the “summer slide” because they are not engaged in learning. We need volunteers who can commit two hours per week for six weeks to be at the same site. If you can’t commit six, we ask for a minimum of four with our goal being for the students to get to know you and for you to get to know them. Whether you are a teacher (current or retired), an educator, or a person with a passion to help students we would love for you to join us. Our goal is to have every volunteer slot filled before we begin on Tuesday, June 18.

The Summer Reading Program will be offered at four different sites this year and will operate Tuesday – Friday beginning June 18 – July 26.  We will take the Love The ’Ville Trailer, set up tents and picnic tables and provide volunteers with resources they need to work with the students.

Student Engagement Team – work with a small group of students to complete a variety of pre-planned activities to help them build their reading skills. Our preference is that you choose a particular site and volunteer at that site on a consistent basis.

NOTE: Our goal is to provide students who participate in the Summer Reading Program with 100% of our attention. For that reason, adult volunteers may not bring their children.

Truck Team – use your truck to pull the LoveThe’Ville trailer from Northeast to one of our four sites. Help with set-up of tents and picnic tables and provide general support to the team. Return the trailer to Northeast and secure it.
