In elementary, we continue to build on the foundations of faith through exciting large group experiences and engaging breakout groups- all of which are led by volunteers who are passionate about connecting kids with Jesus. Our goal is for our youngest students to know that they can trust God no matter what, that they should treat others the way they want to be treated, and that they need to make the wise choices.
In order to help instill these values in our students, we rely on a team of dedicated volunteers that are willing to pour into these students each week. The impact our volunteers make will leave a lasting impression on our students. Below are a variety of ways you can serve. If you have questions or want to talk to someone about our NE Kids environment, please feel free to contact our Lead Children's Pastor, Mike Mihalyov.
First Impressions and Hospitality
Our elementary lobby is a fun and high energy place and this role is the first friendly face that a family sees when they arrive at our church. This is a great opportunity to welcome and connect with parents and kids as they check in using our secure check-in process. We take great pride in our welcoming atmosphere here at Northeast and this role leads the way in welcoming and making parents and kids feel at home.
Large Group Leader
The large group leader hosts and leads the large group portion of our elementary service. This person serves once monthly at both the 9 am and 11 am services. We create an incredibly fun atmosphere during this time with games, worship, and a time of teaching and are incredibly proud of our large group leaders who lead the kids through the rules and expectations, games, and a teaching time.
At Northeast, we take worship very seriously. This is an important part of our large group service and we want to display the same kind of excellence that our worship team does in the adult service time. We use state of the art sound and lighting systems and work hard to lead the kids through an amazing worship experience where they can connect with God. The worship leader leads once a month at both the 9 am and 11 am service for both the K-2 and 3rd-5th areas. This time normally starts with a couple fun high energy songs, followed by a slower song.
Production and Tech
This role is the behind the scenes role that makes our large group worship time incredible. The success of our service hinges on the dependability and skill of our theater tech volunteers. This person works with the large group leader and worship leader to walk the kids through an entire pro presenter presentation complete with high energy music, games, lesson slides, and the feature presentation. This is a crucial role that we depend on for the success of our weekend programming. This is a fun role to learn if you are eager and willing to be trained.
Breakout Group Leaders
After our large group worship time, the kids are dismissed to gender and grade specific breakout groups. This is the core of our ministry here at NE Kids. This is where we really connect with our kids on a personal level and really get to know their story and give them a place to belong. The breakout group leader walks through a discussion time about our lesson as well as a game and craft. This is a weekly commitment for one service time and incredible bonds and relationships are formed as the kids see the same consistent face every week when they attend at the same service time. We encourage families to attend the same worship service weekly, so the kids can connect and form
