It might not seem controversial at first, but it actually is.
- We haven’t done a focused series on singleness in years
- There are more single people in our church than we often realize
- And culturally, singleness is often misunderstood or undervalued
So this question matters:
How does the church view singleness and are we getting it right?
Do Singles Need Their Own Ministry?
A big question that came up:
Why don’t we have a singles ministry?
At first, that might seem like a gap but there’s actually a reason behind it.
While singles ministries can start with good intentions, they often drift into:
- Becoming more about dating than discipleship
- Creating separation instead of community
- Focusing on finding a spouse instead of following Jesus
Instead, the goal is this:
The church is the singles ministry.
That means:
- Singles are fully part of every space
- They’re included in leadership
- Teaching isn’t only focused on marriage
The focus isn’t creating a separate room t’s building a unified community.
Dating as a Christian (Let’s Be Honest)
If you’re single and want to date, the question becomes:
How do I do this in a healthy, God-honoring way?

Apps aren’t automatically bad, but they can shape how we think:
- They can make people feel like options instead of humans
- They remove accountability from community
- They can encourage quick judgments and shallow connections
So if you use them, use them wisely.

But don’t forget: What baggage are you bringing?
Unhealed wounds can impact relationships in a big way.
Sometimes the healthiest decision isn’t to start dating. It’s to let God do some work in you first.

- Your perfect person is out there
- You’ll “just know”
- Everything will feel effortless
But reality is different.
Chemistry is powerful, but it can blind you.
Don’t ignore red flags just because it feels good.
4. Look at Actions, Not Just Words
Someone might say:
“I love Jesus.”
That matters, but it’s not the whole story.
Ask instead:
- Do they live it out?
- Do their priorities reflect it?
- Do their actions match their words?
Character matters more than chemistry.
A Big Truth We Often Miss
Jesus makes something very clear in Scripture:
There is no marriage in heaven.
That can feel surprising but it’s actually freeing.
It means:
- Marriage is not the ultimate goal
- It’s not eternal
- It’s not what completes you
Instead:
Marriage points to something greater; our relationship with Christ.
The Myth We Need to Break
There’s a belief many people carry:
“I won’t be complete until I find the right person.”
But that’s not what the gospel teaches.
The truth is:
- You are already fully known and loved
- Your life is not on pause
- Your purpose does not depend on a relationship
